Taken in Hand and Spanking

There is a connection between being Taken in Hand and spanking. Let me explain.

I love going to a horror movie with my husband. I am sure I am not unusual in this for there seems to be a huge demand for such films. There have been dozens of horror films over the years — their popularity is widespread. Alien, The Shining, and The Silence of the Lambs are classic examples where the level of horror and fear induced in the audience can be quite high, yet the box-office returns are always high.

I am well aware as I enter the theatre to watch a horror film that I am going to be frightened. I expect this. I am anticipating this, but I know that there is no real danger and I am aware that this type of fear has erotic overtones. Therefore, I am perfectly happy to be taken to see a horror movie.

I have to be taken. I cannot watch such a movie when I am alone. If the horror becomes too much, I can be cuddled and I can bury my face in his chest!

When I know my husband is going to spank me I also experience fear. I am afraid of the pain I am going to suffer. But I also know that it is going to be pain that is within my tolerance, in contrast to the raw pain I experienced when I was caned at school. And I know that I can have the spanking stopped if it becomes unbearable, just as I can walk out of the cinema if the horror becomes excessive. This is quite different from the fearful anticipation of corporal punishment at school, where one knows that the pain is deliberately going to be above the normal pain threshold and tolerance. That induces real fear. Unpleasant fear. Not exciting fear and not erotic fear.

I, like many contributors to this forum, like to be taken in hand. I like being dominated. Not excessively, but firmly. I like my man to be ‘the boss’. This is what I define as ‘manly’. Therefore, if he decides that I deserve to be punished and sentences me to a spanking, I accept that he is doing his duty as a ‘man’, as the boss, and I am fulfilling my role as the willing and subservient partner. The thrill of following him upstairs knowing that I am about to be spanked is equal to, even greater than, the thrill of anticipation of the fear when entering a cinema to see a horror movie.

There is something deliciously submissive in placing oneself across a man’s lap, knowing that this positions one’s bottom in the best place for it to be slapped. Again, there is the pleasant thrill of scary anticipation. How hard is he going to smack? How many slaps will he give you? How long will the spanking last?

And there is the matter of having one’s skirt pulled up. This is terribly exciting. It is instilled into girls that they are supposed to avoid this at all costs, and they are taught at an early age to condition them that they must never allow skirts to be lifted in front of anyone, especially a male. Skirts must always conceal, they tell us, and it is naughty to allow a boy to see under your skirt (indeed, anybody). In reality, few girls accept this restriction. At school we soon find out that boys like to chase girls and flip up their skirts. This causes squeals, ostensibly of horror but delight in reality, especially if one’s knickers are revealed. Ooh! Such naughtiness! Girls are expected never to show their knickers in public. As a teenager or as an adult you might wear a miniskirt and show yards of thigh, but the skirt must always be kept down, and the knickers must never be displayed. And as for showing one’s actual unmentionable private parts, wow! Yet what happens in reality when the girls grow up? Are girls that shy? No. In general, most girls are exhibitionists, and most men are voyeurs. This is why there are so many girlie magazines in the market. But notice that there is no shortage of girls prepared to exhibit their bodies and open their legs. Proof that girls like displaying their bodies can be found in the type of magazines which are entirely devoted to displaying pictures of women who freely send in photographs of themselves in the nude. There are also several free web sites entirely devoted to such pictures, and they are often sent in by proud husbands and boy friends, always with the woman’s permission I might add. Some sites get offered nearly a hundred new photos every day! Clearly there is no shortage of girls who are happy to ignore the rule about always keeping the legs together.

Just as we squealed with delight when we were young and when the boys flipped our skirts high enough to give them a brief glimpse of our knickers, there is an incredible thrill for a girl in having her skirt pulled up for a spanking, and a considerable thrill for her to have her knickers pulled down.

Finally, there is the actual spanking itself. I don’t know whether you have ever had an Asian body massage, whether, Japanese, Thai or Chinese. This concentrates on the acupuncture points, and pressure is applied to them. Included in the massage is hand slapping, where the cupped hand, or cupped hands, are slapped all over the back and the back of the thighs and legs. It is a delightful and erotic experience. But even if you haven’t had such a massage, I am sure you can appreciate how much more erotic slapping can be on the zone that is even more erogenous than the back or thighs — namely the bottom. And it is surprising how hard slaps on the bottom can be before the pain becomes unacceptable.

So you can see that when a girl is spanked she experiences the thrill of anticipation, the thrill of placing herself, or being placed, over a dominating male’s lap, the thrill of having her skirt pulled up, the thrill of having her knickers pulled down, and the thrill of the actual slaps themselves. All this is delightfully erotic. It gets a girl roused magnificently. Meanwhile, the man gets the thrill of lifting a girl’s skirt, pulling down her knickers, seeing her bare bottom, and almost certainly gets a thrill of the actual slapping. He becomes aroused too. So we end up with an aroused man, and an aroused girl with her knickers down. The next step is inevitable. The knickers are taken right off, and the rest of her clothes if he or she wishes, and coupling takes place. No need for foreplay, which most men get impatient with and which is seldom carried out long enough for a woman. The spanking has overridden the need to provide foreplay to get the girl in the mood. The man can happily penetrate as soon as he wishes. Both parties are happy.

So you can see why I like to be Taken in Hand, and you can see why I am happy to be disciplined. Simply put, it is sexy. Very sexy.

#1 Thanks for the explanation

There are clearly many Taken In Hand readers who are spankos, but many others who just aren't. Very well explained for those of us who are not excited by the idea of being spanked.

#2 Thank You

And please allow me to congratulate you on your forthrightness in not only admitting but glorying in the erotic nature of a spanking. You've expressed it very well.

I do think spanking when it is approached this way, is a great part of a relationship, whether the reason for the spanking is "discipline" or it is just "I feel like spanking you tonight," with no "blame" assigned to anyone.

#3 thrill

Spot on!

Some would require many Hell Merry's for that!

Cannot agree CP is systematically beyond the pain threshold but some domestic spanking is, however no-one stays for more then!

Taken In Hand accolades

“This website is just what I have been looking for for ages--but did not even know it! Have become weary of [other] sites, etc. They never really properly address the psychological components, all the subtleties [...] [A]nyway, thanks so much for existing, I have been telling my friends...hope your website sticks around forever!”
     - A Girl From Texas

“Taken In Hand is male led but male intimately led. ... I do like the Taken In Hand focus on family and the focus that marriage is between one man and one woman. That is actually very important to me.”
     - Frank Nelson

“[I]n Taken In Hand, I am enhancing and extending my power as a woman, and enriching my life and personality. I give up NOTHING, and gain the world.... [M]y perception of Taken In Hand is that there are few other venues that can compare for teaching men the responsible, healthy uses of power. It gives men skills and confidence they can use not just in their sexual relationships, but also with their children, in their professions, and out in the community. Taken In Hand requires a far higher level of courage, sacrifice, responsibility, and personal integrity than many [men] will even think to aspire to.”
     - Sara

“Taken In Hand is about having the man in charge because you like it like that, it's not about blind obedience or never having your own way about anything.”
     - Louise

“great site.”

“There are lots of websites for people in the BDSM, D/s, DD (domestic discipline) and spanking communities. There are websites for people who belong to religions that advocate male-head-of-household marriage. There are even websites for Christians who are interested in BDSM. But there are very few websites for people who are interested in male-led intimate relationships but who are not interested in all that the above communities associate with this kind of relationship (jargon, clothes, etc.)
Some of us don't even like thinking of this as a lifestyle. [...]
If you are interested in this kind of relationship but are not interested in BDSM or D/s or DD or spanking websites, there's a new website for you: Taken In Hand”

     - Tom Newman

“[Taken In Hand] is really the most beautiful website...”

“[Taken In Hand is] a necessary read... Very complex, lots of power shifts, combining respect with [control], and pleasure. [...] The whole shebang. I'm glad I found it.”
     - Dutchman

“Taken In Hand... is the name of a website that I discovered less than two years ago and which made a big difference to my life. It made me understand what it was I wanted and helped me to come to terms with my own feelings and gave me the impetus to talk seriously to my husband about our relationship for the first time ever really. The site is about male-led relationships which do not necessarily have to involve spanking. The owner of the site is more interested in other aspects of male control. There are a lot of interesting articles on the site.”
     - Louise C

“[Taken In Hand is a]n excellent site with many thought-provoking articles and responses.”
      - Doug

“[Taken In Hand is] one of the most exciting sites on the internet!”

“[T]he whole damn site really is one of the most well articulated (pro/con) loaded blogs I've seen. It provides a cross section of how people are feeling out there even amongst those who are ‘seemingly’ natural allies.”
      - zbigdogX

“As I view it, I'm a control freak. I love to be in control. However, I fantasize about that control being stripped from me and handed over to someone else....namely, my husband. I'm just glad I found a site that makes me realize I'm not a freak for wanting [a Taken In Hand relationship]”
      - GypsyGirl

“I was delighted to receive word of Taken In Hand. ... a very thoughtful and well-written group blog. ... I'm looking forward to reading through this blog the way I look forward to reading a new novel by a favorite author. It looks that good.”
      - SpankBoss

“Wow. This site is so amazing.”
     - Ken

““[Taken In Hand is] a wonderful website [...] [I]t's about the interpersonal dynamics of loving relationships where the man is the boss. [I]t's assumed that both partners are in it because that's what they want and have chosen. Also, unlike many other ‘traditional marriage’ sites, it's not coming from any sort of biblical perspective. ... Some of the best writing I've seen on these topics, from a variety of authors.”
